Would you kayak for two hours in a 30+ size group? That’s what we did to see the Benagil Caves! We went with @stancesup and had a blast! Seeing these famous Algarve sea caves by kayak was truly amazing. Even a little scary! Some of the caves had lots of water inside and seemed to want to close up at any minute! 😮 But we also had a lovely rest stop at Praia da Marinha Beach. The sites and adventure of kayaking around the Algarve is a must-do when you’re in Portugal! “A Boneca,” meaning “the doll” in Portuguese, is a small cave featuring two large openings, or windows, that face the sea. With some imagination, the cave resembles a doll’s head, with the openings serving as its eyes. This unique “face” of the doll is only visible from the sea via boat ride. • A Boneca is accessible 24/7 if you walk through a skinny tunnel from the Algar Seco caves. Algar Seco Tips 🇵🇹 (Save this post for your trip to Portugal) There is so much to do and see in the Algar Seco. We did a day trip with our hostel but there are many groups you can take a trip with. • 1) Stay nearby: I would recommend staying nearby and exploring all this area has to offer over multiple days. 2) Bring the essentials: Wear good walking shoes, bring water and sunglasses! This is a sunny and beautiful hike! 3) Wear a bathing suit outfit: You’ll want to dip into the secret watering holes within the cliffs. So instead of bringing a bathing suit and extra clothes why not just combine the two and seemingly wear a regular tank top and shorts outfit that you can also swim in? Vegan Food in Algarve, Portugal (Save this post for your 🇵🇹 trip) (See these eateries featured in my Algarve vlog linked in bio @deanna_troy_travels) 1) Goldig Café (@cafe_goldig ) This quaint cafe has delicious and unique meals! Get there early because seats fill up fast. Their “Tosta Lox” dish has the best vegan salmon lox I’ve ever had! I asked for their secrets and they said it’s made of carrot that they marinade for days in a special sauce. It tasted just like salmon! 2) Beats & Burritos (@beatsandburritos ) This hip and happening eatery happened to be right next to the hostel we were staying at. We literally ate here at least once a day. Featuring tacos, burritos, bowls and quesadillas, all dishes can be made vegan! 3) The Seasonal (@the_seasonal_lagos ) This Asian fusion restaurant combines your favorite dishes such as pad thai with meat-free proteins like tofu and meatless meatballs! 4) O Ninho Family Bar (@oninho.familybar ) This little restaurant has a play area for children so it’s perfect for families. This bar is mostly for a light lunch or breakfast. They have many great vegan meals and pastries. Their vegan couscous with zucchini noodles is both fun and filling. So proud of my husband Cedric for his amazing job at the @spartanrace this weekend! Did you know that the buildings with blue colored roof tops in Santorini are churches? Not every church has a blue roof but many in the island do. So when you’re snapping your epic blue & white building shots please be respectful of the buildings. Santorini Video and hotel rec (both linked in bio @deanna_troy_travels). We started our trip by settling down in this adorable hotel in downtown Fira, the Argonaftes Hotel. This place is about $50 USD a night (depending on the season), is located in walking distance of the main hot spots of Fira (including the bus station to Oia), plus it’s family run and owned! In my new YouTube video we interview the owner of this hotel. He reveals that his family has lived in Santorini for over 200 years. But this is usually referring to the area of Oia which is full of extravagant hot-tubs facing the ocean hotels, highly priced restaurants and photographers snapping tourists with blue domes. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy that area as well but Santorini is an entire island full of different neighborhoods each offering something special. In this vlog we explore the town of Fira which is the main downtown area of the island. We meet the locals, take in the views, try mespila fruit and play with stray cats haha! Montmartre is the cutest area of Paris! Full of traditional architecture, cafes and sites. This is a must see when visiting France’s capital.
